We took the stress off choosing from thousands of tartans, and created the Persevere Range, a succinct collection that we feel epitomises tradition meeting modernity. The name Persevere is taken from the District of Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland's motto. It is a nod to the old sea port we are based in, whose colours inspired our designers, and where our founders Emma and Fergus grew both Kilt Society and their own family. When to Wear a Kilt We think kilts have a place in just about any situation. They're particularly great for occasions when you need a little extra freedom of movement, like when hiking or driving long distances. Both within and outside of Scotland, you'll find men in kilts on the street, in the pub, and even at work. We say it can be worn at any job except mountaineers or firemen because - after all - the higher you climb, the better the view! Finding Your Kilt Size When measuring to find your kilt size, make sure to measure around where you intend to wear the kilt! Where you wear the kilt on your waist is entirely up to you, and is down to personal preference. However the standard height is around the navel and as a result it is worth noting that your kilt waist size may be slightly larger than your trouser waist size. Kilt Care Lucky for you, our Essentials kilts are washable. Wash at 30° (it saves you money and energy) with a liquid product. Use a short spin on the synthetic cycle to reduce creasing. Be sure to tie your straps before putting your kilt in your washing machine to prevent any damage from the buckle. After washing, hang your kilt to dry on a kilt hanger to reduce the need for ironing!
